Following Your Passion

I have always been in love with the influence of fashion on the world. I wanted nothing more then to grow up and follow my dreams in becoming a fashion designer. I was highly influenced my mother who was unable to follow her dreams in fashion. I feel in some way she pasted down her love for the art to me and it has changed my life for the better.

All throughout high school my goals were set on joining the fashion program at the university I chose to go to. While this was my goal, I faced many obstacles along my high school ventures, including a lack of support by my teachers. My teachers always told me I was not smart enough to get in a big University, I wasn't talented and that a fashion major was a giant waste of time. I was put down a lot for something that I knew was too big to let go.

I was a lazy student in high school, I could never find a drive for anything until I finally came to college. College truly changed me for the better, which is such a weird statement to say now. I had never known the feeling of getting to learn something I was truly passionate about. I was determined to prove those who doubted wrong but more then anything I was determined to prove myself right for following my dreams.

I have been in college for almost three years now and it has been the best experience of my life. I have gotten so many amazing opportunities and have gotten to meet such great people that believe in my goals and want to see me thrive. Since I have been in college I have kept above a 3.5 GPA and have won multiple scholarships in my department. I have enjoyed my program so much that I am planning on furthering my education and getting my Master's after I graduate.

My love for fashion forced me to let go of all the negative influences that doubted me and made me push hard for what I wanted to do in life. Hard work always pays off in the end. It won't be instant but when you finally reach your goals it will be worth it. I haven't fulfilled all my goals yet but I am trusting the process and enjoying every minute.
